Dundee hoping Glen Kamara will win fitness race ahead of Rangers clash

Star Dundee midfielder Glen Kamara looks on course to be ready for Saturday’s trip to face Rangers at Ibrox.

The 22-year-old has only made three starts this season because of a troublesome ankle injury and was missing again as the Dark Blues crashed to Motherwell in their last Premiership outing just over a week ago.

That absence led to him withdrawing from the Finnish squad for their opening Uefa Nations League clashes against Hungary on Friday and Estonia tonight.

He would have been touch and go for those games, but given the ongoing problems he’s been having with the ankle, it was decided he should stay in Scotland for intensive treatment.

That’s brought about an improvement and Dundee are hopeful he will now make the squad for Ibrox, though he does remain a doubt.

Kamara’s presence would be a significant boost to boss Neil McCann as he looks to turn round a dreadful run that’s seen his team lose five games on the bounce and leave them rooted to the foot of the Premiership without a single point from four games to date.

Roarie Deacon hasn’t featured for Dundee this season due to injury.

Still likely to be missing is Roarie Deacon, who’s still to feature this season.

Deacon is recovering from ankle surgery and is now in training, but has not even made a come back in the reserves as yet.

That should mean Saturday will come too soon for him.

Full-back Nathan Ralph, who missed the Well game, should be fit.
