Marcus Haber sparks speculation he is leaving Dundee as he jets off – but not with Dark Blues squad

Striker Marcus Haber’s time at Dundee appears to be at an end with the player in talks over a move to South Africa.

The player himself sparked speculation over his future after posting pictures of himself on social media.

While the Dark Blues first-team squad were heading for a training camp in Portugal’s Algarve yesterday, the Canadian was posting pictures of himself embarking on a
marathon journey to South Africa rather than to southern Europe.

The Tele can confirm that trip is to talk over a switch to the ABSA Premiership, though to which Johannesburg club it’s still unclear.

Marcus Haber posted on social media that he was off to South Africa.

Haber’s first posts showed him at Glasgow airport about to board a flight for London.

Later in the day he posted again complaining a flight from Heathrow to Johannesburg had been delayed.

So far there has been no word of which South African club he may be heading out to join.
But it does seem his near two-year stay at Dens Park is over.

Since new gaffer Neil McCann took over last year, the 29-year-old has been very much a fringe player.

He only made 13 appearances last term, the final one coming in the 4-1 home defeat at the hands of Ross County in February.

He did have back problems that required surgery but even before then it was clear he was no longer first-choice striker.

Haber has not been involved in either of the pre-season friendlies to date and is behind Sofien Moussa, new signing Jean Mendy and even kid Matty Henvey in the pecking order.
