After a confidence-boosting performance and a vital point against Hearts at the weekend, Dundee now face the massive challenge of back-to-back away trips to face the Old Firm.
Champions Celtic are next up at Parkhead tonight and Saturday sees the Dark Blues head for Rangers for the final game before the league split.
The bookies, along with most fans, are giving Neil McCann’s team virtually no chance of taking points from those Glasgow excursions.
After the improved display against the Jambos, however, stylish midfielder Glen Kamara does not believe further points this week to boost the battle for top-flight survival are out of the question.
He said: “I definitely thought we deserved to get all three points against Hearts because we played well and created a few chances.
“Hopefully, we can get them at Celtic and Rangers, and you never know what can happen,” he said.
“The group feels like it is all coming together and everyone is happy and training well, so we will look forward to these games.
“And, hopefully, we can kick on and keep getting those points we need to make sure we are safe.”
The Finnish international, a product of the Arsenal youth academy, appreciates the size of the task facing him and his team-mates over the next four days.
But the fact so little is expected of Dundee in these two outings can, he feels, be a good thing.
“Character will be vital because we have some really big games coming up — these two against Celtic and Rangers and then the games after the split.
“It means every one of us needs to be on it right now like we were against Hearts.
“If people don’t focus too much on us going into these two games this week then we can just push on and, hopefully, prove them wrong.”
If Dundee are to cause upsets at Parkhead or Ibrox, Kamara is likely to be a key figure.
He was at his best on Sunday, barely wasting a pass in the middle of the park. His performance was further evidence of what a good signing he has been but, at just 22, he is keen to show there is much more to come from him.
“I’m happy with my game but I want to improve and there’s loads of little bits I can do to make myself a better player,” he added.
“I’m pleased with my form right now. I’ve had a few starts for Finland now and that’s really helped my confidence.
“I am delighted with that and I want to push on with the international team and keep doing well for Dundee.”
Another of the Dens Park foreign legion, Sofien Moussa, also showed up well at the weekend.
He hit the headlines as, after four penalty conversations so far, he finally got his first Premiership goal from open play.
While that feat was long overdue, team-mate Kamara has stressed that for a long time now the Tunisian has been appreciated by the rest of the dressing-room.
“We were pleased for Moussa when he scored but even without the goals he is a good player for us.
“He takes the ball in well, you can play off him and he is really strong.
“When he is holding the ball, it gets us up the park and we can play off him and he always works really hard for the team and does a good job.”
