Dundee will welcome Josh Meekings back to the first team for this weekend’s Scottish Cup clash against his old side Inverness.
The Dark Blues defender missed the final game before the winter break, a 2-0 win over St Johnstone, with a damaged foot.
Meekings picked that up in the defeat to Celtic on Boxing Day in a full-blooded challenge that left Hoops winger Jonny Hayes with a broken leg.
However, a rest over the winter break has cleared up the problem and the 25-year-old has been back in training with the Dark Blues this week.
Meekings has played 13 times for Dundee since joining from relegated Caley Thistle after a serious knee injury kept him out for six months.
Also returning should be club captain Darren O’Dea after he missed the Saints game through illness.
Sofien Moussa, too, is expected to be fit and available to manager Neil McCann after he was kept out of the match at McDiarmid Park with a swollen foot, also picked up against Celtic.
He, though, will miss the next league game against Hibs on January 24 through suspension.
Also missing that one due to suspension will be Kerr Waddell after he collected his sixth league booking of the season in Perth.
Another on the comeback trail is Craig Wighton as he began training again after his long lay-off.
The 21-year-old got the worst possible start to the season as he snapped his cruciate ligament in pre-season.
Now, though, he is stepping up his recovery and it’s hoped he may feature before the end of the campaign.
