Dundee boss Neil McCann admits his young centre-halves have given him a selection dilemma ahead of the trip to Rangers.
Club captain Darren O’Dea is fit again after a month out with a knee injury and normally a player of his experience would be parachuted straight in for a game at a place like Ibrox.
Given their early-season form, the manager knows leaving either 19-year-old Kerr Waddell or Jack Hendry (22) out to make room for him would be harsh.
It is, though, a problem he’s delighted to have.
“I have a decision to make and that’s testimony to how these boys are playing. They’re defending well,” he said.
“What I want from them when they play is to be saying the jersey is theirs and people have to take it off them. They’ve done that.
“They will make mistakes because they’re young but so long as they are learning from them that’s fine.
“And I’m asking them to take risks and make passes, so there is no gripe if they make a mistake, it’s on me.”
As well as O’Dea, striker Sofien Moussa could be involved, also after a long spell out because of knee trouble.
A more likely starter, up front however, is deadline-day loan signing from Shrewsbury AJ Leitch-Smith.
He’s impressed his new gaffer in training.
“AJ has looked really sharp. He’s a different type of striker to the other ones here.
“He likes to play on the shoulder and make runs in behind.”
The other new arrival, Spanish full-back Jon Aurtenetxe will also be in the squad.
He’s also impressed in training but looks unlikely to dislodge Kevin Holt on the left of the defence.
