Jack Hendry set for Dundee debut at Arbroath

Dundee fans are set to get a first look at latest signing Jack Hendry when the Dark Blues make the short journey to Arbroath today.

The 22-year-old centre-half, who joined up from Wigan on a two-year deal on Wednesday evening, is expected to make his debut at Gayfield.

Trialists Crescendo van Berkel, Glen Kamara and Nils Rutten are also set to get another chance to show they’re worth deals.

They all turned out in Tuesday’s 3-1 win at St Mirren and impressed manager Neil McCann.

With Hendry being signed up for central defence, it could be Van Berkel is used either at full-back or in midfield.

Although regarded as a central defender, the 25-year-old has played wide and further up the park during his time in the Dutch second tier with Telstar.

With only a small support travelling to Paisley on Tuesday, many who make the shorter journey tomorrow will be seeing summer signings Scott Allan, Randy Wolters, Roarie Deacon and Jamie Spence for the first time as well.

Loan man from Celtic Allan stole the show against the Buddies, setting up two first-half goals.

That came as no big surprise to the manager and he believes this season can see the 25-year-old produce the form that made him one of the most sought-after kids in the country when he was at Dundee United.

“Scott Allan has undoubted quality,” said McCann.

“He also recognises he has to work hard for the team as well and no one is going to be excused from the workrate.

“He’s got class there with his deliveries from the wide area and he showed that at St Mirren.”
