Dundee have ended their interest in defender Jens Janse.
The 30-year-old right-back, who has experience of football in Holland, Spain and Italy, turned out for the U/20 side earlier in the week.
However, Dark Blues gaffer Paul Hartley confirmed this afternoon there would no contract offer for the Dutchman.
While the manager’s search for squad reinforcements will continue, today his full focus was on Sunday’s Premiership clash with Aberdeen at Dens Park.
And, even at this early stage, it’s almost certain the Dee gaffer will delay his team selection for the clash against Derek McInnes’ men until the last minute.
Centre-half Darren O’Dea remains the big doubt because of the foot injury that forced him off in last weekend’s draw with Kilmarnock.
While a scan revealed no serious damage, the Irishman has been racing against the clock to get fit.
And it remains touch and go whether or not he makes it.
With Kevin Gomis banned after his red card against Killie, should O’Dea have to sit it out, it will be a major problem.
James McPake remains on the long-term absentee list, leaving Julen Etxabeguren and Kosta Gadzhalov the only fit central defenders with first-team experience.
Elsewhere, as Dundee look for their first maximum points at home this term, striker Rory Loy could return after being benched for the last two games.
