Dundee have been linked with a move for Hearts’ striker Juanma.
But gaffer Paul Hartley is pursuing other options as he looks to add to his squad.
The 25-year-old striker is well-known to Dark Blues fans after his double at Dens early last season enabled his team to fight-back and take three points.
The Spaniard is a popular figure with fans at Tynecastle but has dropped out of head coach Robbie Neilson’s plans this term.
He hasn’t made an appearance this season and it’s understood he’s been told he is free to move on.
Other clubs have been alerted to that but, right now, Dundee are not planning to enter the bidding for him.
In the wake of Greg Stewart’s move to Birmingham City last week, manager Paul Hartley is keen to find a replacement for the attacker.
And he would also like to add to his defensive options as well.
That’s put a number of players on the radar, though it remains to be seen if any business will be done before the Friday night home clash with Hamilton Accies.
Meanwhile, Stewart could make his Birmingham debut tonight when the Blues travel to Wigan on English Championship duty.
The 26-year-old was registered in time to take a seat on the bench for Saturday’s 2-1 win away to Leeds United, another of the clubs who were strongly linked with him over the summer.
He didn’t get on but could feature in this evening’s clash with the newly-promoted Latics.
