EXCLUSIVE: Kevin McDonald training with Dundee after kidney transplant and Fulham release

Kevin McDonald has been given training facilities by Dundee.

The Carnoustie-raised star came through the ranks at Dens Park before enjoying a successful 13-year career in England, capped by a storied spell at Fulham.

His time in West London came to an end in the summer, with McDonald revealing he required a kidney transplant.

The 32-year-old received a donor organ from his brother Fraser and, after a spell of recuperation, has now been welcomed into the Dundee camp by manager James McPake.

Courier Sport understands the arrangement at this stage is purely to give McDonald, to whom Charlie Adam dedicated the Dark Blues’ play-off triumph over Kilmarnock, the chance to work his way back to fitness.

Meanwhile, Dundee have been boosted by the return to training of Adam and Leigh Griffiths.

Both featured in Monday morning’s training session at the city’s Riverside sports ground.
