Paul Hartley was happy with the new formation that helped Dundee give league leaders Celtic a good game on Saturday, and he won’t be changing it for the foreseeable future.
The Dens Park boss revealed after the 1-0 defeat to the Parkhead side that a 3-5-2 set-up is here to stay.
“We changed the shape of the team and went with three at the back,” he said. “And I felt we were more comfortable today.
“We’re going to stick with this formation and not try and bamboozle the players too much. We’ll stick with the system and see where it takes us.”
Getting things right at the top end of the pitch remains an issue but Hartley has all but ruled out bringing in a free agent striker before the next transfer window opens.
“I don’t think there are any out there,” he said. “So we’ll go with what we’ve got until January.
“We’ve got to try and find them (goals) from somewhere.
“We haven’t got a magic wand and will probably have to wait until January before we do anything.
“I’ve got great faith in the players I’ve got. We have lost a lot of goals but it’s up to others to step up and take responsibility.”
