Ade Azeez has revealed how Partick Thistle fully expected Dundee to come under pressure from their own fans.
Azeez scored one goal and set up the other in the Jags’ straightforward 2-0 victory at Dens on Wednesday night to pile on the pain for the home supporters.
As the frustration grew in the stands, so Thistle manager Alan Archibald’s pre-match talk seemed to be panning out perfectly.
Azeez said: “I thought even before the first goal that their fans were getting on to them when they weren’t getting forward or were just kicking it forward.
“I thought they (the Dundee players) were more nervous than us.
“We could hear the fans getting on to them.
“We knew that could happen because the manager mentioned it in his team talk.”
Azeez stressed just how much the Partick players wanted the three points.
“It felt like a cup final,” he said.
“Both teams knew how big this win was.
“You could sense it in the game but I thought we controlled massive parts of it.
“After the goal they had a 10-minute spell, where they looked quite dangerous, but after that it was all us.
“We forced them to change their shape numerous times and it just shows how much we imposed ourselves on them.”
