Back in October they narrowly lost to Celtic and the after-match talk was very much of the glass half-full variety.
Following another one-goal defeat to the champions elect at the weekend, they had every right to accentuate the positive once more.
Perhaps even more so.
The Dark Blues were away from home this time, scored and had more chances than at Dens in the early autumn.
On both occasions the defeat was the third result in a three-game streak without winning.
Now, as then, the next three matches are against Hearts, Partick Thistle and St Johnstone.
There needs to be a big difference to the post-Celtic loss reaction this time around.
Dundee are a better team now than they were then and they have to show it. Another three defeats can’t be allowed to happen. They should be aiming for at least two wins.
