Greg Stewart has backed Faissal El Bakhtaoui to get over his Parkhead miss – and lift Dundee clear of the Premiership relegation battle. The Moroccan squandered a glorious chance to snatch a late point for the Dark Blues in Saturday’s 2-1 defeat to Celtic. El Bakhtaoui, who joined Paul Hartley’s men from Dunfermline back in the summer, only has one Dundee goal to his name. Former Dens Park hero Stewart, who left for Birmingham City in August said: “I think Faissal will come good for Dundee. “Every striker misses chances and you just have to keep the faith in your ability. “He showed he’s a proven goal-scorer at Dunfermline and has definitely got the ability to play in the top flight. “Now would the ideal time for him to really show what he can do. “If he can help them with a goal or two to put together a run between now and the winter break, then it could give them a huge boost.” Meanwhile, Stewart was given a start for Birmingham in Gianfranco Zola’s first game in charge at the weekend.
