Dundee manager Paul Hartley is wary of over-playing the importance of the January transfer window.
The Dens Park boss, who will have to free up space in his squad before he can recruit, is well aware any business conducted over the next few weeks “wouldn’t guarantee you anything.”
“I’m not sure,” he said.
“You could bring in four or five players and it wouldn’t guarantee you anything.
“Or you could only get one and he could be the one who gives you a real boost.
“It can work either way. It really depends what’s out there.”
Hartley added: “We’ll probably need to shift a couple out to bring a couple in.
“That’s hard on both fronts.
“I know we’ve got to free some money up.
“We’ve got a bit of time in January.
“That’s one of the benefits of the break. It means there’s only one game in the month.
“We do want to strengthen the group.
“We were able to do that with Marcus (Haber), when we got him snapped up as a free agent.
