Dundee boss Gary Bowyer says the club are closing in on fresh signings.
And he’s hoping to have at least one, possibly two, new faces in his squad before the weekend trip to Stranraer.
Bowyer’s only capture so far this summer has been Tyler French from Wrexham with the defender making a first appearance in the friendly draw with Blackburn Rovers.
However, the Dens Park gaffer said after the Dark Blues began their Premier Sports Cup campaign with a win over Hamilton that he hoped to have a couple of new faces added this week.
That is edging closer and Bowyer says there could be positive news very soon.
Asked where the club were with incomings, he replied: “Ongoing but we feel we are getting closer, for sure.
“I think it’s fair to say there is a lot of work going in by everybody at the club to try to do that.
“Hopefully by Thursday – if not, then certainly Friday – I would be disappointed if we didn’t have one, maybe two, new faces in.”
Who might it be?
The Dark Blues have been linked with a loan move for Rangers midfielder Ben Williamson.
The 20-year-old has had spells with Arbroath, Livingston and Raith Rovers over the past couple of seasons.
And Bowyer has admitted his interest in the Scotland U/21 man.
Last weekend, he said: “We’ve been linked with Ben Williamson and I know about him.
“I worked with Stephen Kelly at Salford so I have a decent relationship with Billy Kirkwood and I’ve been speaking to Ross Wilson to find out who is available and what can be done.
“He will certainly go onto the list.”
The Dundee boss will also run the rule over the three trialists who featured in the 1-1 friendly draw with Blackburn.
Danny Devine, meanwhile, has left the club after his trial period ended.
