Former Hibs and Dundee midfielder Scott Allan could be set for a return to football with Arbroath.
The 30-year-old playmaker has been without a club since leaving Easter Road in the summer.
And his next destination looks set to be Gayfield Park with Dick Campbell looking to bolster his attacking options.
It’s understood a deal has been verbally agreed between Allan and the Championship side.
The midfielder is set to travel to the club tonight to finalise terms, with an official announcement expected later this evening.
Should the deal go through as planned, he could feature for the Lichties in a closed-door match against St Johnstone tonight.
Allan could then make his Arbroath debut on Saturday at home to Queen’s Park.
Just this week, in a column for the BBC, he wrote that he feared his heart condition could put off potential suitors, declaring: “There’s life left in me. I need to be playing.”
Boss Dick Campbell is no stranger to the midfielder, having managed him during a short loan stint in the 2010/11 season.
He also featured against the Lichties on a number of occasions for Inverness, Hibs and Dundee in the Championship.
The Lichties almost landed Allan in the January window with the deal falling through at the final moment.
