Manager Gary Bowyer praised the spirit of his Dundee side in their 2-2 draw with Queen’s Park but insists the goals conceded were “not acceptable”.
Twice the Dark Blues fell behind at Ochilview, first to a bizarre Pat Jarrett goal and then a second just moments after Paul McMullan had levelled the scores at 1-1.
Then came a real moment of controversy as new signing Derick Osei scored his first Dundee goal, ghosting in at the far post to make it 2-2 with just minutes on the clock.
The hosts were so incensed the goal wasn’t ruled out for offside that winger Dom Thomas was eventually given a second yellow card by referee Barry Cook.
‘Not acceptable’
Bowyer, though, insists the decision was correct.
On the performance from his side, the Dundee boss said: “It was hard fought. We showed a lot of spirit to twice get back in the game.
“To concede as we did, it was just too easy. Ryan Sweeney kicked it off their man and it went in.
“They will have the same gripes for our first equaliser with the error as their goalkeeper came for it and didn’t get it.
“But then to go and concede again and the ease of it was not acceptable.
“We hit the post and the bar and we kept going and kept trying to get back in the game. The fight and spirit to keep going they showed and we got the equaliser.
‘Clearly onside’
“I didn’t know what the commotion was. I have seen it again and it was clearly onside.
“I can’t fault their effort and I can’t fault their commitment but I can fault the manner of the goals we conceded.
“We need to be better with our decision making because we had some great opportunities. We’ve got to keep working on that.
“They did not go under, we’ve had some tough games and we haven’t gone under.
“That will stand us in good stead for the rest of the season because it is so, so tight.”
Zach Robinson
A sickness bug has struck the squad in recent weeks with Lee Ashcroft and Paul McGowan missing the game against Ayr United recently.
This time it was Tyler French missing from the matchday squad.
Zach Robinson, though, has now come down with the illness – in the middle of the first half.
“He was sick on the pitch so we had to get him off,” Bowyer added.
“We lost Tyler French to it as well. Paul McGowan got injured in training.
“We’re just going through a spell right now where people aren’t available, it’s just not happening.
“You do planning but then somebody drops out.
“We didn’t even know about Zach. He came in after the warm-up and had been into the toilet, thought he was going to be sick.
“Then he ran out and was sick on the pitch.”
