Dundee’s latest goalscorer Derick Osei doesn’t care that antics from opponents Queen’s Park may have overshadowed his first strike for the club.

The Frenchman was delighted to get off the mark for the Dark Blues and insists he wasn’t worried about the goal being ruled out for offside, despite the fury from the Spiders.

Defender Lee Kilday and winger Dom Thomas were shown yellow cards for their protests with the latter then sent off as the 2-2 draw at Ochilview came to a feisty end.

Osei insists there was no doubt in his mind the goal was good with video replays since showing him clearly onside.

“I remember the movement. I thought I was onside,” the former France U/19 international said.

“I didn’t care about what they were doing. The most important thing is that I scored and that’s it.

“There was a little bit of worry, but I trust him (the assistant referee). I was like: ‘What’s going on?’

“But it’s a goal, and that’s great.

“It’s a great feeling, and I am happy to score my first goal for the club.

“Hopefully, that’s just the start.”

‘Paid off’

It was Osei’s first league goal in British football since leaving his homeland for Oxford United in 2020.

And he’s keen to add more in a dark blue shirt as he targets more time on the pitch after three substitute appearances.

“It is up to the gaffer. I have to do the job,” he said.

“We are frustrated with Zach Robinson going off. Hopefully, he will recover well. We need him.

“He’s an important player for the team.”

Osei added: “We deserved the three points. We were the better team, but it was one of those games.

“We were unlucky. Paul McMullan hit the post, I did as well.

“I was frustrated but I don’t have time to think about it. I was thinking about the next one.

“That paid off.

“When you work hard and believe in yourself, it pays off.

“I am really happy.”
