LEE WILKIE: Same old Dundee problems – defend properly and they’ll pick up much-needed victory

Dundee are still stumbling along in the Championship after another draw.

I think Gary Bowyer was right to say it was a battling performance from his side after coming from behind twice.

But I can’t help but feel if they defend properly, they win that game.

Creating chances isn’t a problem for them. Taking them has been at times.

But they are conceding too many poor goals – how often have we said that about the Dee in recent years?

Dundee shouldn’t be having to rely on scoring twice just to earn a point.

They league is so tight, though, that if they keep drawing away but find victories at home, they’ll be there or thereabouts come the end of the season.

Encouragement

They need to start putting three points on the board, however.

Saturday would be a great time to do that, away to Partick Thistle.

It’s a massive game for both teams.

A chance for the Dark Blues to get one back for the opening day of the season and one for the Jags to sort their awful recent form.

Recently, they’ve fallen off a cliff and Dundee should take encouragement from their recent results.

Gary Bowyer’s side have looked dangerous in attack.

The fans, though, are frustrated – this weekend would be a good time to give them something to cheer about.
