Skipper Ryan Sweeney was delighted to play his part in Dundee’s sensational turnaround at Partick Thistle.
However, he’d prefer in future if the Dark Blues didn’t give themselves “a mountain to climb” by going two goals behind in the first place.
Sweeney grabbed his first goal of the season in making it 2-2 at Firhill, backing up Zach Robinson’s second-half header as Dundee made up the two-goal deficit from the first half.
Cammy Kerr would snatch a memorable winner with 14 minutes to go to seal a big win in this Championship campaign.
But, as much as they want to focus on the good parts of the weekend victory, Sweeney insists they can’t afford too many 45 minutes like the first half on Saturday.
“This now has to be a turning point for us,” he told Courier Sport.
“It’s important as well we look at the first half and what went wrong.
“After the Queen’s Park game, you can see there is character in there to come back twice in two games.
“We do need to stop giving ourselves such a mountain to climb because we have a good side.
“We need to start how we played the second half on Saturday, get an early foothold and make it difficult for teams.
“It’s important we look over the first half as well and look to improve on that.
“At half-time it was calm but there were a few words said.
“The manager changed shape which gave us a bit more of a foothold.
“Once the first one goes in you get more belief and confidence.
“We came away with the three points and it was massive, huge for us.”
‘About time!’
Sweeney also broke his scoring duck for the season, something that he’s been waiting on after bagging three last season in the top flight.
The big defender followed up Zach Robinson’s attempt at an overhead kick to bundle the ball beyond David Mitchell in the Partick Thistle goal.

With that he becomes the 17th Dundee player to find the net this season.
“That’s my first of the season, about time!” he added.
“I think I was down for one against Inverness but I didn’t touch that one, probably goes down as the miss of the season.
“I couldn’t care how Saturday’s went in, though, being the equaliser for the side it was a big moment in the game.”
