Paul Hartley has confirmed that Scott Bain wants to leave Dundee in the summer.
The Dark Blues’ goalkeeper isn’t interested in entering talks over a new deal.
His current contract still has another season left on it.
“Scott has indicated that if he could get a move then he would want a move,” said Hartley.
“He’s not been offered terms. We had a brief chat.
“He’s got a year left and he wants to see what his options are in the summer.
“I’ve not got objections to people wanting to try and better themselves. That’s football. Players come and go all the time.
“We said that if the owners offered you an extension, would you be interested? And he said ‘no’. We just have to get on with that. It might not happen, though.
“He’s within his rights but he might be with us for the next campaign.”
Hartley added: “He has to be playing at the top of his game if he’s going to get a move. That might not be this year.
“We’ve got to deal with it and he’s got to remain focused for however long he’s at the club.
“We’ll look at every area of the pitch in the summer. We need to bring a few players in.”
