Dundee’s new permanent manager Neil McCann is set to hand German midfielder Nils Rutten a trial with the Borussia Monchengladbach player no stranger to Scotland.
The 21-year-old was on the bench for the Champions League tie last October when the Bundesliga side visited Celtic and enjoyed a 2-0 win and he is set to visit the east coast this time later this week.
Rutten, who came through Borussia Monchengladbach’s youth programme, was also an unused substitute when the German outfit drew 1-1 with Manchester City in another Champions League group match the following month however he has still to make a top-team appearance.
The defensive-minded player is expected to be on trial in the coming days with McCann also keen on former Ross County midfielder Martin Woods who is a free agent after ending his second spell at Dingwall by mutual consent despite having another year available on his contract.
