Dundee manager Neil McCann liked what he saw of his trialists in last night’s 3-1 friendly win over St Mirren.
The Dark Blues gave game time in Paisley to trialist trio Glen Kamara, Crescendo van Berkel and Nils Rutten.
The Dens gaffer was happy with all three of them.
Also, there was a particularly impressive showing from new boy Scott Allan, with the midfielder setting up Darren O’Dea for his two first-half goals.
O’Dea’s double was followed by a third from sub Marcus Haber after the break before Gavin Reilly got one back for the Buddies.
McCann said: “The three trialists did really well.
“To come into an environment where St Mirren were ahead of us in their pre-season preparations and a new set-up in which we had not really worked too much on tactics, I thought they equipped themselves very well.
“I think each one of them grew into the match.
“So we have another game on Saturday (away to Arbroath) to give them another opportunity.
“Overall, I am very pleased because I said to the players that although we want to get game ready we also want to win these games.
“So to come away from Paisley with a win is pretty pleasing.”
As for the classy-looking Allan, McCann added: “He has undoubted quality and he recognises he has to work as part of the team as well. There is not any one player who is going to be excused from workrate.”
