Dundee manager Neil McCann believes new striker Sofien Moussa could become a “cult figure” at the club.
The Dark Blues completed the signing of the Tunisian on a two-year deal hours before last night’s 2-1 friendly loss to Bolton at Dens Park.
The 29-year-old, who will wear the number nine this season, didn’t feature against the English Championship side but could make his debut against Raith Rovers in the Betfred Cup at Stark’s Park on Tuesday.
McCann is confident the fans will like what they see.
“I am delighted to get Sofien because he is exactly what I have been looking for,” said the Dens gaffer.
“He is six-foot-three and is in some condition so he will offer us a real presence up front.
“He is powerful in the air and really good at holding the ball up.
“I think he will be terrific for us.
“He really could end up being cult figure here because he is a hungry boy and can’t wait to get started.”
As for the game against Bolton, Dundee were two down after half-an-hour but produced some decent football, especially in the second half, and got one back through Paul McGowan.
“I thought we played some really good stuff once we adjusted to their shape,” said McCann.
“We were just done by two big smashes and it was typical Championship football (from Bolton).
“I am not happy because we didn’t win but we played some really nice stuff and created lots of chances.
“Overall, I think it was a great workout for us.”
