Dundee manager Neil McCann insists there will be more to come from hat-trick hero Sofien Moussa when he gets up to speed.
The Tunisian frontman stole the show as he netted a hat-trick as the Dark Blues comfortably beat Cowdenbeath 3-0 in their Betfred Cup Group C clash at Central Park last night.
Now the action moves to Dens Park on Sunday when city rivals Dundee United will do the famous walk up the road from Tannadice to decide who gets the derby bragging rights as well as tops the group.
Moussa will be ready and waiting for the Tangerines but McCann claimed he will be an even bigger threat to opponents in a couple of weeks’ time.
“I am delighted all round and it was a great performance,” said the Dundee gaffer.
“There were loads of good performances and we looked comfortable all over the park.
“However, you have to mention Moussa, who puts himself in positions to get on the end of things and finish. He probably could have had five goals.
“He is a not a typical big striker who wants the ball into his chest. He is prepared to run in behind people and that gives us a different type of threat.
“Moussa is exactly what I thought I was bringing to the club and he is not even up to speed yet.
“He is probably two or three weeks away from being where he wants to be and is behind the rest in terms of preparation so there is more to come from him.”
As for the looming derby, McCann can’t wait.
He added: “Going into the Dundee United game on the back of three wins is vital for us.
“It sets the group up really nicely to see who is going to come out on top.
“If we play like we did against Cowdenbeath then I would be confident going into the game at the weekend.”
