Dundee boss Neil McCann has snapped up AJ Leitch-Smith on loan from English League One side Shrewsbury Town.
The 27-year-old striker is a product of Crewe Alexandra’s youth system and has also played for Yeovil Town and Port Vale.
McCann has been on the look-out for forward reinforcements with Craig Wighton out long-term after knee surgery while Marcus Haber and Sofien Moussa are both doubtful for next week’s Ladbrokes Premiership game against Rangers at Ibrox.
Now he has signed Leitch-Smith – who netted five times in 21 appearances for Shrewsbury last season – until January.
He becomes McCann’s second signing of the week following the capture of former Athletic Bilbao and Celta Vigo defender Jon Aurtenetxe.
Meanwhile, Dundee youngster Kerr Waddell has put pen to paper on a new contract that will keep him at the club until at least 2019.
The 19-year-old centre-half made his breakthrough into the first team this season and has produced some outstanding performances.
Waddell, who came up through the youth ranks at Dens, has now made nine appearances for McCann’s side and gave another assured display against Hibs on Sunday.
