Dundee’s Lewis Spence is facing a spell on the sidelines with the midfielder set to undergo surgery today.
Dens boss Neil McCann revealed last week that the former Dunfermline player had gone over his ankle in training.
The 21-year-old was on crutches with the manager saying that was just a precaution.
However, the worst fears have now been confirmed with Spence, who missed last weekend’s draw at Dens with Kilmarnock, now needing an ankle op.
It is a big blow for the Dark Blues who are currently bottom of the Premiership with Spence having emerged as a key player since he was handed his league debut for the club against Rangers at Ibrox at the start of September.
