Fir Park has been a happy hunting ground for Mark O’Hara.
And, with his contract running out in the summer, Motherwell would be keen to make it the Dundee midfielder’s home stadium.
But the man who had scored three goals in his previous two visits here won’t look back on this game with great affection.
His team earned a valuable point but it could have been all three had he not conceded a penalty that led to Motherwell’s equaliser.
After Paul McGowan had given the Dark Blues the lead with a stunning long-range strike (and then hit the woodwork with another effort from distance) O’Hara got his bearings wrong when he brought down Cedric Kipre just after the hour mark.
There was little complaint from the Dens Park men and Craig Tanner sent Elliott Parish the wrong way with his spot-kick.
The goal came in Motherwell’s only spell of dominance and this was a game Dundee deserved to win.
Josh Meekings hit the post with a glancing header, McGowan saw a shot narrowly miss the target and in injury time Meekings was foiled by a brilliant Trevor Carson save.
