Neil McCann spoke of his wish for Dundee to start showing consistency before this game.
He’ll have to wait a bit longer.
This was a thoroughly frustrating afternoon for the Dark Blues, who really shouldn’t have lost.
They had the better of a pretty dull first half and Sofien Moussa came close to scoring with a back post header just after the half-hour.
But seconds later Motherwell took the lead with their first shot on goal – Craig Tanner’s fourth against Dundee this season.
The visitors saw precious little of the ball in the second period and Genseric Kusunga, Josh Meekings, Simon Murray and Roarie Deacon all had near misses.
But this was another case of Dundee failing to convert superiority into points.
In that regard they have found the sort of consistency their manager hasn’t wished for.
