Dundee looked anything but relegation candidates after sharing the points with the runaway league leaders at Parkhead last night.
The gap between the Dark Blues and Ross County and Partick Thistle is now five points but with a few more performances like Wednesday’s battling 0-0 draw, Neil McCann’s men won’t have to be looking over their shoulders.
The Dundee manager spoke of his pride at the result and display.
He said: “I’m very proud of my team. That’s two draws against two of the best teams in the league and two very different types of performance. I couldn’t be happier.
“We worked on things in the international break and I felt that, even though Celtic had a lot of shots from outside of the box, I always felt there was an element of comfort.
“To a man they were brilliant and we could have even stolen it at the end.
“This should reinforce the belief I have in the players.”
A near £2 million bid from Rosenborg was knocked back for Steven Caulker at the start of the week and McCann was full of praise for his centre-back.
He said: “He’s an immense talent. For him to say to me when I told him about the offer that he wasn’t interested was fantastic news for the club.
“He was part of a brilliant team performance.”
Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers said: “I thought a lot of our play was really good but it was a mix of us not having that bit of quality in the final third and some good defending from Dundee to make it difficult for us. But we’re six games to go and 10 points clear.”
