Arbroath boss Dick Campbell has expressed his delight after snapping up former Raith Rovers skipper Jason Thomson on a two-year deal.
The full-back, who signed for Raith from Hearts in 2012, netted seven times for Rovers last season and Stark’s Park boss Barry Smith was keen for the 30-year-old to stay.
However, Campbell has persuaded the defender to join their League 1 rivals.
The veteran manager said: “I am absolutely delighted that I have managed to sign Jason for Arbroath.
“He is a quality player and I am sure he will be a great addition for the club.
“I think his decision to come to Gayfield sends out a big message to the rest of the league.
“He is exactly the type of player we need to get better.
“We did well to make the promotion play-offs after just coming up from League 2 and we are determined to go one better next year.
“Jason will certainly help us try to achieve that.”
Thomson becomes Campbell’s third signing of the summer following the additions of goalies Darren Jamieson and Darren Hill.
