Dundee’s Head of Youth Development Jimmy Boyle has been named as boss Jim McIntyre’s assistant. The manager had hoped to bring Billy Dodds in as his No.2 but that move was quashed after fans’ voiced their strong disapproval. The supporters were angered due to Dodds voting against a CVA during the dark days of administration eight years ago. Now, 51-year-old Boyle, who was a team-mate of McIntyre’s when they were players at Airdrie, has been handed the role. The manager said: “I’m delighted to confirm Jimmy as my assistant manager. He is a person I’ve know for a long long time.” “What I look for in an assistant manager, Jimmy ticks all the boxes. Honest, hardworking, good on the game and has the respect of the players.” James McPake will take up the position as Interim Head of Academy.
