Dundee are understood to awaiting news on the full extent of a foot injury suffered by new signing Andrew Davies. The experienced defender left Hartlepool United last week and was quickly snapped up by Dens boss Jim McIntyre on an 18-month deal. However, the 34-year-old centre-half was stretchered off during a bounce game against St Johnstone with fears he has suffered a fracture. If that is confirmed, it would be a major blow to the Dark Blues ahead of this weekend’s Scottish Cup tie with Queen of the South at Dens. McIntyre is already without the suspended Darren O’Dea which leaves him with just two fit centre-halves in Genseric Kusunga and Ryan Inniss. And if Davies is out for the foreseeable future, the manager may even have to dip into the market for another defender.
