Dundee are still in the Scottish Cup – but they will have to negotiate a fourth round replay to get past Queen of the South.
The Dark Blues drew 1-1 with the Championship side, and it was probably a fair result.
The visitors were the better team in the first period and deserved to go in front through Stephen Dobbie on 28 minutes. His side-foot finish from six yards was his 33rd goal of the season.
On the stroke of half-time the hosts were level, though. Jesse Curran did very well to make space for himself to shoot from just inside the box and even better to curl his effort past Alan Martin.
Dundee improved in the second half but Queens came closest to finding a winner when new keeper Seny Dieng did brilliantly to block a Josh Todd shot on the hour mark.
Dieng’s performance was hugely encouraging, while fellow debutants Andy Dales and Andrew Nelson also showed moments of promise.
