Dundee’s new signings gave a taste of what manager Jim McIntyre believes is still to come, with encouraging debuts in Saturday’s Scottish Cup draw with Queen of the South.
Seny Dieng, Andrew Nelson and Andy Dales were all praised by their boss after the 1-1 draw at Dens Park.
“The keeper was excellent,” said McIntyre. “He showed some really good handling and distribution. He was nice and tidy and made some great saves.
“We were delighted to secure him and it was a good debut.
“We got a spark from the two boys who came on in the second half. You always want your new signings to start well.
“Nelson showed that raw power that I talked about previously. He’s going to be a handful. He still has to learn the game and play with a partner but he’s got great attributes.
“Dalesy will be able to play both sides for us. He’s very direct and also has an end-product.
“You can see that he was a wee bit off the pace and tired a bit but he kept at it.
“The positives for me were the introduction of the new players, who all contributed.”
