VERDICT: Dundee lose to Aberdeen and fall further behind St Mirren

Dundee’s miserable record against Aberdeen goes on, with the Dark Blues going down to their 12th successive loss to the Dons.

Jim McIntyre’s side had matched, and maybe even just out-performed, the Reds until they went behind to a 69th minute penalty.

Youngster Callum Moore, making his first start for Dundee, conceded the spot-kick by tripping up Lewis Ferguson and Sam Cosgrove sent Seny Dieng the wrong way.

Cosgrove settled the contest in the 77th minute, finishing off a Connor McLennan cut-back.

There could be no complaints about the endeavour from the Dundee players. And had Ethan Robson’s first half dipping 25-yarder found the net rather than strike the post, a shock result could have been on the cards.

That’s all ifs and buts, though.

It is all about points for the Dens Park side in their perilous position and the Premiership table still makes for grim reading going into the post-split phase of the campaign.

Dundee are now three points adrift of St Mirren and seven behind Hamilton Accies with five games left.
