The Dundee players need to put their weekend without a game to good use, according to Ryan McGowan.
Because the now or never stage in their fight for Premiership survival will follow a few days later.
St Johnstone are their first opponents in the post-split phase of the season and time is running out for the Dark Blues to produce a sprint to the finish line that will get them off the bottom of the table.
“Everyone knows how big the games after the split are going to be for us,” said McGowan.
“We’ve got a free weekend which is an opportunity for us to put some good work in on the training ground and prepare for the last five games.
“There has been pressure since I arrived really. But it’s only us who can get us out of it – that old cliché.
“We’re bitterly disappointed that we keep losing games with nothing to show for our efforts.
“But I think we’ve got enough here to turn it around.
“We just need to make sure that when we are on top we start scoring goals and keep them out at the back.”
