Jim Goodwin is understood to have emerged as Dundeeās No.1 choice to become their new manager.
The current Alloa boss has already been interviewed by Dens managing director John Nelms and further talks will be held now the Irishman has returned from holiday.
Dundee coach James McPake, who took charge of the first team for the last game of the season against St Mirren, was also under serious consideration to become manager on a permanent basis but it appears he has lost out to Goodwin.
The 37-year-old is highly regarded by Alloa after securing the part-timersā Championship survival this season but the Wasps will not stand in his way if he is offered the Dundee position.
