This dreadful display from Dundee United deserved to get them knocked off the top of the Championship.
That it didn’t is a miracle.
You shouldn’t lose 4-0 at Queen of the South and expect to lead the league.
However, United’s rivals all failed to capitalise, with Inverness drawing at home to Alloa and Ayr losing at Dunfermline.
This pathetic performance was the Tangerines’ third successive league defeat on the road after Ayr and Alloa.
They were far too meek in the middle of the park and soft at the back.
In particular, they couldn’t cope with crosses into their own box and this was a scoreline that didn’t flatter the home team.
It seems the Tangerines are trying their best to undo all their good early-season work.
Goals from Stephen Dobbie and Kevin Holt had the hosts on easy street at half-time. Dobbie added a third then Michael Paton a fourth after the break as the 700-plus travelling fans were left wondering what on earth has happened to their team.
