Dundee United have welcomed back a familiar face to the club as a trialist.
Defender Kieran Freeman, 18, who swapped the Tannadice youth set-up for Southampton, will play in a closed-doors game today.
He will be joined by American midfielder Dillon Powers, who also hopes to secure a deal with United.
Right-back Freeman was one of the top prospects of his age-group in Scotland when he moved to England, having spent time with Manchester United.
He missed the whole of last season with a knee injury, however, and his contract with Southampton has now run down.
Meanwhile, Crystal Palace will try to snap up Scott Banks this month, Courier Sport understands.
The 18-year-old was a summer transfer target of the London club, with Arsenal and Man City also tracking him.
He has since been frozen out at Tannadice after informing the club he intends to run down his deal.
If he moves at the end of the season United would only be due standard compensation but if Palace want to ensure they get their man they may yet pay a fee.
Partick Thistle are understood to be interested in a loan deal for Cammy Smith for the remainder of the campaign.
