Calum Butcher will return to the Dundee United midfield when they face Morton at Cappielow this weekend.
The tough-tackling English midfielder hasn’t played since the Tangerines’ last victory – the 2-1 home win over Inverness Caley Thistle on February 21.
A groin injury has kept Butcher sidelined and he has definitely been missed by Championship leaders United, who have suffered a serious dip in form.
However, Robbie Neilson’s men will be hoping his comeback coincides with a return to winning ways tomorrow.
Assistant boss Gordon Forrest said: “We managed to get Calum Butcher back on the training pitch, which was excellent.
“We will assess his fitness and see how he reacts ahead of Saturday.
“Hopefully, we can look to see if he will be added to the squad for this weekend.
“He has been excellent for us this season, not only on the pitch but off it as well.
“With him being absent of late, it’s given others the chance to come in and get some game-time like Dillon Powers.
“Dillon scored a fantastic goal against Partick Thistle last weekend and he provides that bit of valuable experience.
“So we’ve got Dillon, Ian Harkes and now Butcher back in the mix which gives us options in midfield.”
