Kieran Freeman has agreed a new two-year contract with Dundee United, Courier Sport can reveal.
The right-back started off as a youth player at Tannadice and was one of the top prospects of his age-group in Scotland, representing his country at under-16 and under-17 level.
He spent time training with Manchester United but ended up signing for Southampton, where he spent three seasons.
The 19-year-old was sidelined for a long time with a knee injury and his deal on the south coast of England ran out in January, at which point United invited him back for a trial.
Tangerines boss Robbie Neilson was very impressed with the defender, who can play across the backline, and snapped Freeman up for the final few months of last season.
He has now earned a two-year extension and will seek to put pressure on Liam Smith for a first team breakthrough in the Premiership.
