Ray McKinnon has been confirmed as the new manager of Dundee United.
The former Tannadice midfielder has returned to his old club on a three-year deal after resigning as Raith Rovers boss last night.
McKinnon is delighted to be taking over from Mixu Paatelainen, saying: “This is a wonderful opportunity at a club that is close to my heart and I am looking forward to taking on the task of rebuilding club and developing the talent required to get us where we should be.
“There are a lot of challenges ahead and it is important that we give ourselves every opportunity to succeed. We will work hard to build a team that the United fans can be proud of.”
McKinnon expressed his gratitude to his former employers, adding: “I want to thank everyone at Raith Rovers.
“I really enjoyed my time there and I am grateful to them for being so understanding of my desire to become manager of Dundee United.
“Raith Rovers are a fabulous, proper club whom I wish all the best.”
McKinnon’s career has been one of solid progress.
He has bossed junior side Lochee United then took a coaching role at the SFA. He moved on to Brechin City in 2012, before joining Raith in the summer of last year.
The new gaffer will watch United’s game at Kilmarnock on Saturday from the stand, with Gordon Young taking the team for the final match of the season.
