Dundee United manager Ray McKinnon has dropped his interest in Kilmarnock frontman Tope Obadeyi.
It had been expected that Obadeyi would become the latest addition to the Tangerines’ squad after the signings of midfielder Stewart Murdoch, goalkeeper Cammy Bell and defender Lewis Toshney.
However, McKinnon has decided to look elsewhere.
It is understood that United felt that the proverbial goalposts were getting moved by the player’s representative and they weren’t prepared to waste any more time while they had so many other options to explore.
As if to prove that, they have handed a trial to English-born midfielder Lewis Hornby.
The 21-year-old, who has been at Northampton Town, has been recommended to McKinnon by Scotland under-17 coach Scot Gemmill.
Also on his way is Reading central defender Zak Jules, with his arrival now expected on Monday.
McKinnon seems happy with how things are shaping up, saying: “It’s all taking shape and I’m pretty pleased.
“There is also still time before the season starts to sit tight until we get the right people in.”
Going out the door is Polish goalkeeper Michal Szromnik, who has parted company with the Tangerines by mutual agreement.
