Dundee United fans are getting right behind the new Ray McKinnon regime by snapping up season tickets despite relegation.
The supporters’ loyalty to their team was severely tested last season as United crashed down into the Championship.
To their considerable credit, however, they have stood by the side in excellent numbers, with around 4200 season books now having been sold.
Courier Sport understands that sales are less than 10% down on the same time last year and, due to the high demand, the club’s Early Bird prices have been extended until the close of business at 5pm on Wednesday.
Tannadice chairman Stephen Thompson issued a thank you message to fans, saying: “As the new season approaches, season ticket sales are currently standing at a very healthy number.
“That figure is a testimony to the support you have shown for the team and I am very grateful for it.
“There is a genuine buzz around Tannadice just now and, as Ray continues to bring in new signings, that sense of anticipation is growing.
“Our aim this season is promotion to the Premiership and with the fantastic backing you are giving we will do our very best to ensure that is achieved.
“Once again, I thank you for your continued support which is greatly appreciated by everyone at Dundee United.”
