Confidence is already growing in the Dundee United team, according to defender Coll Donaldson.
And it will increase further if they can defeat Championship promotion rivals Dunfermline in their last Betfred Cup clash on Sunday.
The result of the Tannadice fixture, which will be live on BT Sport, will settle which team or teams progress from Group C to the knock-out stages of the revamped League Cup.
And, for the winner, the match will also maintain the feel-good factor going into the start of the league campaign the following weekend.
Donaldson, who scored one of the penalties that earned United two points rather than one in Inverness on Saturday, said: “Inverness is a real physical test and you have to match them.
“I felt we did that, which has to give us confidence for what lies ahead in the Championship because there are not many tougher places to go than there.
“Before the league starts we have Dunfermline in the last group game.
“We have given ourselves a great chance to qualify for the next stage.
“That’s our aim. And if we can win that one we’ll go into the opening Championship match against Queen of the South felling confident.”
