Peterhead boss Jim McInally has granted Dundee United permission to speak to striker Rory McAllister.
The Tangerines are keen to give the Blue Toon’s goalscorer his long-awaited opportunity at full-time level.
The 29-year-old former Inverness Caley Thistle and Brechin City striker has been a star at Balmoor for the past five years, scoring over 125 goals.
However, no Premiership or Championship club had looked to take him on board until now.
The Tannadice men contacted Peterhead about McAllister recently and they have now been given the go-ahead to discuss the move with the player, who also works as a plumber.
A transfer fee has still to be agreed but it is believed that the Balmoor boss, who said earlier this year that he could not understand why a bigger club had not gone for McAllister, would not stand in the player’s way if a deal suited all parties.
Meanwhile, manager Ray McKinnon ran the rule over Dutch trialist defender Christian Supusepa in a bounce game against Forfar.
