Continuing problems with a knee injury for defender Stewart Murdoch could see Csaba Laszlo tweak Dundee United’s formation for the visit of Morton today.
Right-back Murdoch has missed training again this week because of an injury that forced him to miss the Tangerines’ opening two Championship outings last month.
With it flaring up again, the 28-year-old will be sidelined again.
If Csaba decided to resolve the problem via a straight swap, former Celtic kid Sam Wardrop would be the most likely replacement.
The gaffer, though, has hinted he may go another way and that could confirm a debut for Algerian central-defender Rachid Bouhenna.
“Stewart is out injured with a knee problem. It is something he’s had since the start of the season but we have Rachid and also we have options in the right-back position,” said Csaba.
“Rachid would not come in there but he could come in and we could change something in our defence.”
Fully-fit again Callum Booth is in line to make his first league start for United and, if Csaba does decide to go with a back three, that would see him used at left wing-back.
“Callum is now completely free from injury,” said Csaba.
“He played 45 minutes on Saturday and also came on the week previously, so he is ready to start now, definitely.
“It is nice to see competition in the left-back position with Jamie Robson. He has been working very hard.”
Meanwhile, while club captain Fraser Fyvie will not feature today and winger Billy King is not yet ready to start, Csaba was delighted to see both play in the Irn-Bru Cup and then the Reserve Cup over the past week.
Club captain Fyvie has been out since Christmas after knee surgery, while King’s had a thigh problem and not featured this term.
“They both need more game time but generally they are OK. They played another 45 minutes on Tuesday, so it is slow, slow but we need them back.
“Fraser is also the captain and he is very excited to be back in the picture. He is very professional and he knows what he needs to do.”
