Reserve team boss Craig Easton will be will still be without several of his young players when he takes charge for Dundee United’s Irn Bru Cup second round clash with Alloa at Tannadice today.
The Tangerines stated plan for the lower division cup this season has been to use mainly their second string but several first team squad members are again likely to be called on for the visit of the Wasps.
That’s down to the number of big injuries Easton’s squad have been hit by.
“Kieran Inglis is still missing, Logan Chalmers is going to be out for a wee spell with a knee injury, and we’ve had Jake Davidson, and Gavin Ritchie, with a broken leg, out since pre-season,” said Craig.
“When you actually go through the list, we are missing a few and there have been a few serious injuries.
“Logan Chalmers is the latest and is not going to be a short term one. He’s not going to be out for as long as some of the others will but he won’t be back for up to six weeks maybe.
“We have, though, pretty much the squad that’s been available for the past few games.”
It means fringe players like Paul McMullan, William Edjenguele and Sam Wardrop are set to be involved for the second round running.
And Swiss goalkeeper Benjamin Siegrist is expected to get another run out after facing St Johnstone in the first round.
With a small squad to choose from, Alloa are expected to be along the same lines as last week when they held United to a draw in the Championship at the Indodrill Stadium.
Fans should note the Eddie Thompson and Jerry Kerr stands will be in use today, entry £10/£5.
