Dundee United have knocked back the chance to possibly take Danny Swanson back to Tannadice for a second spell.
The 31-year-old is expected to leave current employers Hibs before the transfer window closes on Friday night, with Ross County looking his most likely destination.
But earlier this week Dundee were also linked with the midfielder.
The Dark Blues quickly made it clear they had not moved to get him and, as the arrival of Kenny Miller on a two-year deal confirms, manager Neil McCann’s priority has been to get an experienced striker.
The Tele understands, however, contact was made with Dens Park over any potential interest, while similar discussions took place at Tannadice.
United, though, already have midfielder pair Martin Woods and Dane Mathias Thrane on trial.
Swanson’s lack of game time so far this term – he’s only made three relatively brief appearances from the bench – was also a concern and the Tangerines have decided to stick with the options they were also considering.
That’s likely to have come as a disappointment to Swanson, who played some of the best football of his career during a four-year spell at United between 2008 and 2012.
During that period he was part of the side that lifted the 2010 Scottish Cup, ironically by beating Ross County in the final.
